Making it easier for employers to work with UnitedHealthcare

Discover the ways UnitedHealthcare is streamlining health plan management to better support clients and their employees.

Managing employee benefits can be complex and time-consuming whether you’re a business owner, a benefits leader or part of an HR team. Analyzing plan performance and determining the right benefit mix to meet employees’ diverse health needs can be a daunting challenge.

UnitedHealthcare understands the challenges employers face and is committed to simplifying the experience by working to make it easier for clients to manage their plans, access support for themselves and their employees and deliver overall plan value.

“Our goal is to make UnitedHealthcare the easiest carrier to do business with, and, with all the technology available to us, we have a path to make this happen.”

— Damon Ciampini, SVP Client Experience, UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual

Here are just some of the ways we’re demonstrating that commitment:

  1. Delivering data-driven recommendations: UnitedHealthcare’s robust dataset allows employers to make more informed decisions based on their specific employee population and plan performance. These insights are delivered through dedicated account or client management teams during annual health plan reviews and in-person or virtual touchpoints throughout the year. This helps employers identify opportunities to close gaps in care and reduce costs, which could mean adding new benefits, promoting underutilized benefits or retiring those that are no longer needed.
  2. Offering an expansive portfolio: A broad range of products and solutions allows employers the flexibility to tailor plans to their specific employee needs and budgetary constraints. And when employers are able to integrate more offerings under a single carrier, they can reduce the number of contracts they have to manage, streamline administrative tasks, benefit from more robust reporting and potentially lower costs with bundling opportunities.
  3. Integrating vendors: Evaluating and managing a multitude of vendors can be overwhelming and an administrative headache for employers. That’s why UHC Hub™ was developed, which is designed to help simplify the selection, purchasing and integration of health and wellness vendors with an employer’s existing UnitedHealthcare offerings. Employers may benefit from one contract, simplified billing and coordinated communication. Taking this a step further, UHC Store offers employees who are UnitedHealthcare members the ability to purchase discounted health and wellness offerings — without adding cost or administrative work for you as their employer.
  4. Providing proactive and timely member support: UnitedHealthcare’s digital tools offer on-demand, self-service options and our Advocates can provide employees and their families with more personalized assistance when needed. With the responsible use of AI, UnitedHealthcare is also working to improve its provider search experience, deliver more timely support and resources  to members, flag when outreach may be needed and help resolve issues more efficiently — enabling better member experiences and saving employers time and resources. And if further support is needed, UnitedHealthcare account and client management teams are there to help, whether that’s escalating an issue to the appropriate internal teams, offering educational sessions or trainings for employees or ensuring clients and their employees are fully leveraging the resources available to them.
  5. Communicating industry updates: In an industry as complex as health care, staying up to date on the latest regulations and trends can be challenging. UnitedHealthcare is committed to providing employers regular touchpoints and communications to help ensure they are informed with the latest industry news to help inform their health plan strategy. This may include in-person or virtual meetings with your dedicated account or client management team, biweekly email newsletters and other ad hoc communications. UnitedHealthcare also makes information that may be relevant to employers available on our employer site and newsfeed, uhceservices or LinkedIn.

With these and other initiatives, UnitedHealthcare is continuously working to help you and your employees better navigate today’s complex health care landscape. Whether that’s through the responsible use of AI, negotiating lower prices with providers and drug manufacturers, developing new products and solutions and enhancing existing ones, or creating greater transparency into health care costs and business practices — our overarching goal is to simplify the system and make it work better for everyone.

“As we support our clients and their employees through the complex health care system, we make them feel like they are our top priority, because they are.”
