Loma Linda

Important information regarding our relationship with Loma Linda for people enrolled in our Individual Medicare Advantage PPO plans in California

Loma Linda University Health’s providers and Loma Linda University Medical Center will no longer be in UnitedHealthcare’s network for members enrolled in individual Medicare Advantage PPO plans and Group Retiree PPO plans, effective Jan. 31, 2026.

Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta is not impacted and will remain in network for members enrolled in UnitedHealthcare individual Medicare Advantage PPO plans and Group Retiree PPO plans.

UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in employer-sponsored commercial, individual Medicare Advantage HMO plans, Group Retiree HMO plans, and Medicare Supplement plans are not impacted by this change and can continue accessing care from Loma Linda’s providers and the following hospitals on and after Jan. 31, 2026:

  • Loma Linda University Medical Center
  • Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta
  • Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (for employer-sponsored commercial plans)

Letters have been mailed to impacted members enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Individual Medicare Advantage PPO plans and Group Retiree PPO plans informing them of this change.

Our priority is to provide our members with access to the care they need through a robust network of providers

We understand that network changes can be difficult.

Impacted members enrolled in Individual Medicare Advantage PPO plans and Group Retiree PPO plans will be assigned to a new in-network physician and medical group in their area, effective Jan. 31, 2026.

If a member is satisfied with their new physician and medical group, they don’t need to do anything and a new member identification card with updated medical group and physician information will be mailed to them.

If a member prefers to select their own physician, they can choose a new medical group and physician from our network at any time by calling the customer care number on their health plan ID card or visit their plan’s website at: myuhcmedicare.com.

The members we are privileged to serve will continue to have ample access to in-network care from a broad network of physicians and hospitals, including, but not limited to:

  • Redlands Community Hospital
  • St Bernardine Medical Center
  • Community Hospital of San Bernardino
  • Riverside Community Hospital
  • Mountains Community Hospital
  • Parkview Community Medical Center
  • San Antonio Regional Hospital
  • Menifee Global Medical Center
  • Montclair Hospital Medical Center
  • San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital
  • Pomona Valley Medical Center
  • Corona Regional Medical Center

UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in employer-sponsored commercial plans, Medicare Advantage HMO plans, and Group Retiree HMO plans are not impacted and will have continued, uninterrupted network access to Loma Linda’s hospitals and providers.

Facts you should know

People enrolled in our Medicare Advantage PPO plans may receive care from an out-of-network provider, if the provider is a Medicare participating provider which accepts the plan.

If people have a Medicare Advantage PPO or Group Retiree plan, their share of the cost is typically the same as if the provider was part of the network.

Members are encouraged to speak with the provider to confirm they will provide care, regardless of their network status.

Continuity of care

UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in individual Medicare Advantage PPO plans and Group Retiree PPO plans who are in active or ongoing treatment for a serious or complex condition with a Loma Linda provider or at Loma Linda University Medical Center are eligible to continue care throughout the course of their treatment at in-network costs.

Continuity of care allows people in the middle of treatment at the time a provider leaves our network to continue accessing care with their provider for a period of time.

Some examples of people who qualify and are eligible for continuity of care include but are not limited to:

  • People in active treatment for cancer
  • Individuals in ongoing treatment for transplant services

For information regarding how to apply and whether they might be eligible for continuity of care, members should call the number on their health plan ID card.

In the event of an emergency, UnitedHealthcare members should go to the nearest hospital and will be covered at the in-network benefit level, regardless of whether the hospital participates in our network.
