NewYork-Presbyterian

NewYork-Presbyterian will be out of network for UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage individual plans and Group Retiree plans, effective Jan. 1, 2026

Our top priority is that people have uninterrupted access to the care they need. That is why we are notifying our members during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) to inform them NewYork-Presbyterian’s hospitals, facilities and its physicians will be out of network for UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage individual and Group Retiree plans, effective Jan. 1, 2026.

This does not impact Medicare Supplement plans. People enrolled in a Medicare Supplement plan can continue to receive care at NewYork-Presbyterian on and after Jan. 1, 2026.

Facts you should know

We are actively negotiating with NewYork-Presbyterian to renew our relationship for our Dual-Special Needs Plan (D-SNP)

We are engaged in ongoing conversations with NewYork-Presbyterian with the goal of reaching an agreement and maintaining continued, uninterrupted network access to the health system for people enrolled in D-SNP. Our goal is to utilize the remaining time on our contract to renew our relationship.

In the event we are unable to reach an agreement, NewYork-Presbyterian would be out of network for D-SNP, effective Jan. 1, 2026.

People in active or ongoing treatment for a serious or complex condition at NewYork-Presbyterian at the time they go out of network are eligible for continuity of care

Continuity of care provides continued in-network benefits for a limited period of time after a provider goes out of network. Some examples of people who qualify and are eligible for continuity of care include but are not limited to:

  • People in active treatment for cancer
  • Individuals in ongoing treatment for transplant services

UnitedHealthcare members who have questions regarding continuity of care should call the number on their health plan ID card.

People enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage individual and Group Retiree plans continue to have robust access to a large network of providers throughout New York City

UnitedHealthcare members who need assistance finding another network provider in their area should call us at the number on their health plan ID card.

UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in a Group Retiree PPO plan may still receive care at NewYork-Presbyterian as an out-of-network provider should they agree to see them

The share of the cost will be the same for Group Retiree PPO members as if the provider was part of the network. We encourage UnitedHealthcare Group Retiree members to speak with NewYork-Presbyterian to confirm they’ll continue to see them, regardless of their network status.

For additional information about our Group Retiree plan as well as information on how to find a provider, UnitedHealthcare members should go to retiree.uhc.com.

UnitedHealthcare members should always go to the nearest hospital in the event of an emergency

Their care will be covered at the in-network benefit level, regardless of whether a hospital participates in our network.
