Amanda's family perspective helps design UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage health plans
For Amanda, her job at UnitedHealthcare is personal. As part of the Medicare Advantage product strategy team, she studies what people want and need from their health coverage and helps shape plans that meet those needs. “It’s important to get things right,” she says. “Because it’s our family and friends who are using these plans. It’s literally my family.”
Amanda’s parents, Brad and Charlene, recently joined a Medicare Advantage plan. Watching them navigate their options gave her a new perspective. “Even though they both had insurance through their employers, Medicare is just different,” she says. “It can feel overwhelming, but it’s also full of opportunity.”
Her parents chose a UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan and now enjoy retirement with peace of mind. “They’re living their best life,” Amanda says. “They travel, spend time with friends and family, and chase after their grandkids. Knowing their plan supports them wherever they go means a lot to me.”
At home, Amanda often hears her parents’ feedback about their coverage. “They’ve become my personal focus group,” she says. “Hearing their insights helps me think about how we design for different people, from those new to Medicare to those managing chronic conditions.”
Amanda and her husband are raising two young daughters. “It’s important to me that my parents stay healthy and can keep up with the girls,” she says. “Their coverage gives them that stability so they can keep making memories together.”
For Amanda, those personal connections are what make her work meaningful. “Health care is about more than plans and policies,” she says. “It’s about helping people live the lives they want with confidence and joy.”
